By getting what is thought to be the best it could be the case that there are functions that are not needed or not practical to use.

Magnification

Each telescope will come with the promise of immense magnification. The reality is that this is the last thing to consider as it is far from the most important issue. It will be possible to see far away galaxies and exploding stars, the Moons craters and stellar nurseries.

Accessories

To gain increased magnification a Barlow Lens can be used. It is attached to the eyepiece and enables it to be more effective. The mount will also be essential as it does more than just hold the weight. It allows the telescope to be moved and thus enabling a wide range of views.

Your Eyes

It may seem strange to say, but getting used to seeing in the dark is as important as any accessory. The better it gets, the better you will see deep sky objects. As your eyes adapt, it will be possible to see more detail than when you started.

Eye Pieces

Once you have learned to see in the dark, then you can begin to compare eye pieces. They will allow the viewing of different amounts of sky therefore giving the chance to see a detailed piece or a wider range. There are three main sizes, although it is considered best to avoid the 0.965” and concentrate on 1.25” and 2.”

The Sun

Many think it is not possible to look at the sun but this is not the case. Solar filters can be purchased and it is possible to learn the best way to view it. Filters will benefit the user in many other ways and each one will enhance the overall star gazing experience.

                  <h2 class="main-heading"data-splitting>Interested in Visiting Poobservatory?

We allow flexible online booking of visits at the observatory

                        BOOK A VISIT

Getting to know this Program When considering the purchase of a telescope there are a number of areas that need special consideration.
